Go see the movie.  Bring your ticket stub to Mrs. Wine and receive 5 extra credit points added to the single grade of your choice.  Write a movie review to earn an extra 5 extra credit points!!!  Send written reviews to ewine@schools.nyc.gov or bring a copy of your written review to class.

New Grading Period

The third marking period of the school year has begun.  Seventh grade classes have switched.  Homerooms that had music first semester have now moved to art class.  All new classes have met and received information to share with their parents.

Parent letters need to be signed and returned no later than Friday, January 17.  Each student is expected to have a pocket folder with ten sheets of loose leaf and a pencil for every class session.  A participation grade on being prepared with these supplies will be taken during the second class session this week.

Winter Break!!!!

I hope that all of my students and their families enjoy your winter break.  Students of all grades can click on the links at the top of the page to find current extra credit opportunities.  In addition, all 7th grade students have winter break projects that are due the first day they return to class.  Detailed information on these projects can be found on the 7th grade page.  Students need to complete only one of the two projects.

The marking period will end on Friday, January 3.  After this, seventh grade students who currently have art class will be moving to music class for the remainder of the year.  Sixth and eighth grade students will remain in art class.

Projects and Parents

All classes are finishing up drawing projects.  New information and updated extra credit opportunities will be posted within the week.

Report cards will be distributed next week.  Most students have been working very hard and your parents will be pleased with your progress in art.

Parent - Teacher Conferences are Thursday, November 14.  Parents have two options: 1 - 3 pm and 5 - 7:30 pm.  I will be available in the art room, 312 to meet with parents, view student work, and discuss your student's progress.  I look forward to seeing you then.

New Information and Extra Credit Options Posted on Grade Tabs!!!

     The first weeks of school are off to a GRREAT start!!!!  Click on the grade level tab at the top of the page to see the latest information about your new drawing project.  You can share the class Power Point presentation with your parents and explain to them what you are learning in art.

     There are also three extra credit opportunities for each lesson.  You may choose the one you like best or do all three!!!!  Extra credit for each project must be completed and submitted by the end of the project.  New opportunites will be posted when we begin new lessons!!

Welcome back!!!

Welcome back!!!!  I hope you had a relaxing and refreshing summer. I am excited to begin the 2013-14 school year as the new 6 - 8 visual arts teacher at PS /MS 194 in the Bronx.  I hope you find this website both helpful and interesting. 

You may want to begin by clicking the Resources tab at the top of the page.  Explore another art teacher's blog or visit a museum site using the links I have provided.  Write down the website you chose to explore and bring it in to class and I will give you extra credit!!! New for 5th Grade

New projects have been posted for fifth grade.  All classes will be completing the graphic design project and learning how to create a logo.  Select classes will be participating in the African Mask sculpture project.
